About me

AI can be a helpful tool, but when it comes to mental health therapy, a relationship with a person who knows how to provide meaningful feedback that is tailored to you has even more potential to help. We are wired to be responsive to the warmth and wisdom that can come from human-to-human connection.

Even after over 35 years in the field, I am still passionate about learning, collaborating, and helping.

I am a pragmatic therapist. My main goal is to help you meet your goals, even if you haven’t fully clarified your goals yet. I am patient and kind while also being persistent. I hope that you are open to working hard once you realize the potential rewards that can come from our work together. We can pace our work in a way that supports your needs.

In therapy with me, you are likely to discover (or rediscover) strengths and capacities you may not have realized that you had as we apply and build the skills and resources that are necessary to help you get where you want to go. Or perhaps you are already connected to your values, strengths, and resources and simply want someone to, in a friendly way, hold you accountable and help you problem solve. We can co-create the kind of atmosphere and agenda that you need to help support the changes that you want to make in your life.

I have extensive training in many types of therapy, which allows me to tailor treatment to each person I work I with.  I am known for my expertise in clinical hypnosis and provide training and consultation to health care professionals locally and internationally.  

I believe that providing good therapy requires more than professional training. My own life experiences, with their joys and challenges, have taught me important lessons that I bring to my clinical work.

When I am not providing therapy, writing, teaching or consulting, you can find me spending time with family and friends, walking in the woods, reading, listening to music, watching a show, working on my property, hanging out with animals, or delighting in something about nature.
